How much time for checking? (1 Viewer)

How much time would be wise to devote to checking my solutions as opposed to doing q7&8?

I'm planning to leave about 20min in the end to check even if I don't finish most of the last questions, is that a good idea?

hmm.. yes and no. It's a good thing to do to check over your earlier questions because they are a) the easiest marks to get and b) the easiest mistakes to make
so give it at least 10 mins

Of course, if your really confident, and question 7 and 8 don, t look too hard, I think that extra twenty minutes to attempt to gain up to 20 marks is well worth it. Although if you work really fast you can finish the entire thing with 30mins to spare for checking.

I can never get 20 marks from the last 2 questions with 20 minutes, even if i had an hour that would be quite difficult if the exam was hard.

The last two questions are generally exceedingly easy. Require less writing than question 1.

Seeing the answer, however............that might not be so easy.

q1 takes about 1 or 2 pages of writing for me and about 5-10min of my time, normally i just write down the question then the solution. I don't know about you but q8 solutions are much longer for me, and most of the time I see the solution on the paper, its just that I need to write out a proof for it.

of course leaving out questions that i cant do
then going back and checking and trying to do the questions i left out

I think this all depends on the difficulty of the test. In 2002 I spent time checking, but the test was esier, so mistakes were crucial mark losers, and I had time. If the test is harder, than mistakes are less critical mark losers, and you will have less time ...

i did the 1999 paper yesterday and finished in 2 hours
so that leaves alot of checking time

it's eaier to get marks at the beginning, so try to maximise it there, and don't worry bout q7-8 if u have to decide.

nah some of q7-8 are easy marks...i would suggest readin the paper first, getting those easy ones first, then so the paper...atleast that way u'll get some bonus marks and the first 6 q's as well...dougie..finally the 200 congrats

wouldn't it be the other way around though? because if its hard then say i can only do 70/120, then if i make 10 mistakes thats 10/70% of my marks gone. but if its easy and score 110/120, then if i make 10 mistakes thats only 10/110%. you know.

and the other thing is if its hard then getting the extra marks from the questions you can't do yet is harder than checking for extra marks, while its the other around for easy exams.
