Select ONE of the quotations as the opening for a piece of imaginative writing that explores
the challenges of belonging and not belonging.
Does the stimulus have to be the first thing in your story, or can it be somewhere in the first paragraph?

if it says use quotation as the opening then you'd be expected to knock it it off within the first two sentences.
Yep, pretty much this. Ideally, you'd be using it as your first sentence.

It really depends on the question. If it's a picture, well then you can use it anywhere. If it says "use one of these quotes as an inspiration for a creative writing", you can use it anywhere, you don't even need to use the exact quote - just elements of it would be fine. Same goes for the picture.

If it says "use this quote to being your creative response" (like it did in the 2010 hsc paper), then you have to open with the quote.
