yes, we all want to be admin, and have our own little forums. :p but how would we attract members, should be the question, no point havin' a forum of 10 members who post once a month, like uniboardz =p

You'd have to help out alot on the forums, and be pretty erudite in the area of that particular forum, furthermore, be on alot to actually moderate it.

vbulletin does cost money.

www.vbulletin.com

Alternatively you can use phpBB which is an excellent and free alternative to vbulletin. It has a lot of great features as well.

I highly doubt you can even manage the board freaking_out, not yet, you need a bit of programming knowledge as well, and also a good server depending on how many ppl u cater for, you also have to have the server on a good connection.

any free host wouldn't have SQL, PHP or CGI or ASP enabled, i havent seen it

and also limited bandwidth, you get like i duno 500 megs or less of data transfer in those accounts, and also ad banners.

you need alot and i mean alot of bandwidth just to cater for like 100 or even less users.

Geocities on provides like i duno 50 megs of webspace, and forums take up a large amount as more posts populate, and even if u disable image attatching it still wont help

so lets just say unless you got a hell of a good connection at home, and ur server at home is configured good and ur good at tweaking a forum (programming wise), you would have to
pay for the service every month etc... for hosting and data transfer.

i highly doubt you would go through that much to become a admin, and besides wats good about being admin, u have so much work to do for the forums to maintain it and waste time, unless u feel so good with banning powers and u feel like banning people wenever u want which will be hell stupid unless ur site populates more than the BOS equivalent, and also what forum is it gonna be about?, your gonna have to compete with other ones, if ur thinking tech site forum.. hmmm dont try the fail rate is HIGH unless u got ur connections.

Just letting uno wat ur up for if u really are so keen for it.
