Why do you feel you want to hang around asians to fit in with society to get a few friends?
I hang around a multicultural group of friends and I love them man. Im asian but being around asians too much annoys me. I have one girl that just won't stop bitching about people everytime she talks and when she does talk she trys to lead you into a bitching conversation ahahha

At school sit next to people and just.. well since your shy..do less of the talk..maybe help the other person out abit? Ask a few questions.. do a few assignments together at the library? After making one friend, it'l lead to making a group of friends once you get introduced to your new friend's friends :)

Making sense? hahaha

cheers!

Nothing annoys me more than the groups of asians that wander around in their little groups yelling in asian talk. If they want to be accepted by us they need to start talking to Australians, talking IN ENGLISH and get rid of this ridiculous belief that asians can only talk to asians. We get accused of not accepting them, but the way I see it, its them who don't accept us. I don't know many people who would not be friends with someone because they are asian, but most people I know aren't going to waste time trying to talk to someone who doesn't have the decency to talk english and can't be bothered assimilating into the culture which they have "adopted". If they don't want to talk to anyone but other asians, they should have stayed in asia.
By the way, I don't give a damn if people think that's rascist, it had to be said and thats life.

Hey!!

I think its great that you want to make friends, and its certainly possible. Though I've never been in your position because I am quite sociable and easy to interact with, I am sympathetic to your shy nature. Please add me on msn and we'll talk: dementedguy@hotmail.com (don't worry!!! the email is stupid, I'm not really disabled). I'll happily be your first friend :) and help you, 'guide' you, to making more friends.

Best of luck and I hope to hear from you!!

xoxo

ok now i kno that there was one like this but hear me out. i go to a school where there are very few asians, although i kno a lot of people its level at which i kno them is not to the point where i would hang out with them...... so yea... i go to cab library and see groups coming in n i think "y couldnt i belong into a group like that" well n yea...... whats would be the approach to form new friendships... i'm afraid that i might turn into one of those "socialphobic" people although it might b setting it cuz i'm pretty shy*

*plz excuse me if i have made any grammatical errors
To hang out with asians you need to fit the asian stereotypes. There are three basic asian stereotypes. 1) fob asians that listen to c-pop and speak asian amongst themselves. 2) 'ghetto' asians that listen to hip-hop and pop music, dress like 'gangstas' and pretend to be Christians. 3) 'banana' asians that basically despise other asians and hang out exclusively with anglos.

alternatively you can just be yourself (this one doesn't work so well if you want to be part of a 'clique').

of course, most people have few 'real' friends. if you want more of those you need to stop trying to impress others and focus on caring about others.

I am Asian and I dont think that is too racist. I have been trying to talk as little in my language because it is true that talking in another language can become exclusive.

Im asian, I dont find that racist. And I totally agree with what you wrote.
But there are two different type of asians,
1. Asians born in English speaking country (THEY ARE NORMAL)
2. Overseas asians

At school, I always see a bunch of asians hanging around together, its fukin australia, they're like fkin blaburing fkin jiberish. I don't see them socialise, talk to other people that are different races. Maybe they are scared or someshit, but to me its all bullshit. Maybe they don't speak english well, BUT FARK ITS AUSTRALIA GODDAM IT. And it seriously pisses me off at school seeing them as a group with gay long dyed hair that covers their eyes.

And even on the bus it annoys the shit outta me, they speak so fkin loud THEY"RE ONLY NEXT TO EACH OTHER.
They think its china or someshit,

The thing that pisses me off are you fk nuts that don't know the difference between asians. Some people look at me like I'm some cunt that just came from china. I was born here, I speak english well and no bs accent.

I HATE other asians that just come to aus and think its fkin china or someshit.

Sometimes I just want to tell them to STFU
ok, now I find that racist.

I have many white Australian friends and I wasnt born in Australia. you know, in the first couple of years when I was in Australia I did find Asian friends easier to hang around with. Our background is the same and it is more likely we have more common interest. But then I was given a couple years of time and found out more about Australia, then I started to have more non-Asian friends.

Jeez, give the new immigrants more time!

good going man, it's great to see that you think running around this site bitching about people is an effective way to earn respect. A+

i think you just tend to take more notice and be more annoyed by people speaking another language.

try take note of the volume of every other english spoken conversation you hear each day. i really doubt youll notice a difference between the volume of locals and foreigners. most other languages seem 'faster' and use different tones, which i guess could make the speakers appear to be more hostile or intimidating if you cant understand what theyre saying.

if you were living in a foreign country you would naturally want to hang out with people you could communicate with and speak the language you are most comfortable with if the situation allows for it.
