you could start off with a quote or something that sums up your attitude or beliefs or something. Like, i dunno, "to be successfull you must first be happy" or something (obviously not something that gay...), either famous or just a basic statement that sums up who you are or what you believe, and just lead on from there, so like if you said you believe balance in life is the key, then you could talk about your extraculricular activites.
Make your opening statement stand out and be memorable, otherwise you'll just be looked over, you've got to catch the readers attention straight away. Maybe make it funny, or inspirational, or something....
(hmm.... but if everyone starts off with a quote its gonna look a bit suss..... oh well!)
