Yes, it was in the first sentence I think.
But I do remember seeing "state the domain and range"

yeap!
then u had to sketch y=f(x) as well

and for the following questions, i think u had to use simpon's rule to find the area- 2 marks
and
use the integration method to find the exact area - 2 marks
i think that was it...

How were you supposed to do that question? I had one look at it and promptly skipped past it:rolleyes:.

yes...you got an area using simposns rule at 0.79 i think

for part two you had to fins it around the y axis pi/4 answer

Dammit this was crazy...And I should be used to it!
Before the trials we were told we were doing the catholic paper, instead of doing one that our teacher would usually make- anyway long story short this guy makes very hard exams...somewhat crazy...We get into exams and open it up..at he start im thinkin not bad...by about Q4..Im like WTF! Turns out it was our teacher who wrote the damn paper!

i didnt see it either, as far as i can remember, unless it was one of thosw qs where they asked u 2 prove the identity, and then integrate the sin^2etc.

I'm looking to at least 80%. There was only a couple parts of a couple questions which i couldn't do, but i attempted it at least.

Compared to the 4U the previous day, this was like a walk in the park.

i got the flagpole to be 8 m... a friend got 16? ARGH. heh. so i don't know.. and then i couldn't do the newtons for some reason. I SWEAR they didn't give us enough info. but i managed to get an answer. I let A be 1... seeing as that was the capacity of the container.. and we were dealing with proportions hehe

i couldn't get that projectile. prove that V = 2U? wtf. i tried to do it by equating the two y values when they were both zero but it just didn't work. a friend said to do it by the horizontal range bit. AH YES that would be smart. hahaha damnit. oh well.

with that inverse cos, i changed it to y...
i.e. let y = cos^-1 x and then that way, cos y = x. then integrate with respect to y.. as in from 0 to whatever the y value was.. however i think i got that wrong because i didn't know how to do the range of it. i said 0 to pi on 2....

the rest was alright however. :)

OH YEAHHHH WOOHOOO I GOT PI ON 4! EXCELLENT. hahah
was the range zero to pi on two though? because i don't think that's how we're really sposed to find the range. oh well. lol.
woohooooo are you sure that's the right answer? do you have the teacher's word on that??

haha sorry for all these additional posts but oh man. WOOHOO. so did i lol. that was for the pole right? wooooohoooooooo!!!
this is making me feel so mcuh better :D :D :D :D :D :D OHHH YEAHHH haha

was the newton's law something like 40 mins? 40 something mins?

and grr for the tan theta i couldn't simplify it any further! i got like negative t squared - two t + 1 or something ALL OVER t squared plus other crap hahah. oh well. lose one mark?

How to integrate inverse cos:

y = cos<sup>-1</sup>(sqrt(x))

cos y = sqrt(x)
x = cos^2 y

then integrate it from 0 to pi/2 :)

Me, and a friend got pi/4, for both the approximation questions. So i'm sure that's the right answer..

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
lost one mark over forgetting to write domain and range
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

damn i was on the right track but didnt finish it off!! and i think i crossed that pard out as well!

anyway, well i got into the exam, saw the 1st q and thought, great :rolleyes:
so basically, how do u do the 1st q?

2.5

just put in large values of n
lim as n -> infinity

5(10^n) + 3
----------------
2(10^n) - 1

say n = 10
5(10^10) + 3
-----------------
2(10^10) - 1

= 2.5
that's what i should have done, but instead i wrote something like "3(10^n - 1)" :(

I think that's all, that's what I was told.

oh damnit.. i didn't get that
i had no idea how to do it.
was that 1 or 2 marks? i think 2 :/
i put 8 on 3.. just took out the whole 10 to the n altogether haha. i had nooo idea.
