i wish i could do that, cos i spend heaps of my pay on clothes for work which we HAVE to wear.. but apparently i can't claim it cos its 'street wear' and not a uniform.

yeh u can only claim money for clothes if it has the company brand name or logo on it..
basically the tax thing is.. u pay throughout the year and if u earn less than $6000 u get it all back (cuz u dont pay tax if u earn less than 6 grand)
we have an accountant guy do our tax return.. but im pretty sure u can do it on the internet nowadays.. and one day u get a cheque from the ato in the mail

When should we start bugging our employer for a group certificate?

I get taxed heaps, I make $50 and get taxed about $10..
I've basically made about $1200 and should be receiving about $250-$300

You should recieve your group certificate within 14 days of the end of the financial year.

I dunno how much I will be getting back, if any at all... my Sydney job didn't take out enough tax I think so I am just crossing my fingers that I don't get a tax bill!!!

Legally they have to give you your group certificate within 14 days of the end of the financial year. If you haven't recieved it by then, go and see the tax office, and I think the business will get fined or something.

how on earth are you getting that much? legally?
I earn a bit, and keeping every reciept and a good accountant... it combines to equal a very tidy return.

I get $62 back from the $270 I earned sometime last year. $62 better than nothing.

Bloody hell. I should get $280 back (but, as an idiot, my calculations (using the calculators on the ato's site) are incorrect).
