hey dr wouldn't it be 20/52 * 4/51 * 3/50 * 2/49 *1/48 as once you pick the first card, there is only a possibility of 4/51 to pick the 2nd of that same suit then 3/50 to pick the 3rd of that same suit ect
5 times 4 equals 20.

ln(x) = -1
ln(x) = 3

It is a question worth 3 marks, I would assume they want to see how you've done it to get the full 3 marks. Plus that's not the correct answer.

So 2015ers have a go at doing it the proper way.

ln(x) - 3 / ln(x) = 2

(ln(x))^2 - 2ln(x) - 3 = 0

(lnx - 3)(lnx + 1) = 0
lnx = 3 , lnx = -1
x = e^3 , e^-1

How did you get this line?
I do understand multiplying ln(x) by 2 and then using the log law nlnx = ln(x)^n but how did you also get 2ln(x) - 3?

Q. If the continuous function f(x) is an even function, prove that f'(x) is an odd function
