Now that you have seen the exam, what do you think the b6 cutoff will be?

Multiple choice this year is probably easier than previous years. Short answers hard to say because the syllabus is so different. I estimate low 80s as usual for Chem

Wait, are you sure we need diagrams for the boiling point question?

What if I gave a lot of analysis about hydrogen bonds and permanent dipole-dipole forces in depth :(
I personally would give it but as I said before try to not take these for 100% correct, NESA may mark easier or harder

I'm trying to look at raws from the raw mark database but the discrepancy is crazy tbh. In one year some of them have got a 3 mark differential (i.e. 85 vs 88) scaling up to the same high thing (93-94) and idek how that's possible

oh no i thought that thiols were non polar due to the weak electronegativity between the S-H bond!
It is still very weakly polar because there is a net-dipole. Although small still has some effect. If you have justified properly you may be okay

Okay, I justified it by referring to electronegativites and showing that it has a greater tendency to form temporary dipoles from Van der Waals forces rather than permanent dipoles, is that good enough?

Yeah should be okay, at most you will lose a mark if it is wrong

Okay thanks, and also for the final q will I lose a mark for not restating the equations? Because I ran out of space, but i described rhe by products and reagents

they say the number of lines NESA gives is sufficient enough for you to answer a q and obtain full marks such lies, why did NESA fuck up with spacing so much
