I start with writing the question in a statement form... So the markers sitting there all like 'sh*t this b*tch be answerin all the stimulus points being assessed' and then I get a 99.95 and become the president of the world. Life goals.
Errr. Be a lil more realistic pls.

Wouldn't a marker be so ridiculously over it by the time they read the 1000th essay in a row to start with a definition of belonging? I usually just write a little about how people can belong/not belong in a way that's relevant to the question, but my teacher isn't a HSC marker and never tells us the things that they expect to see in our essays for the HSC...
Integrate the question into your definition of belonging. Don't state them separately. Markers most likely don't give a f about what comes after the introduction. So make it real good.

hmmm example? How do you start?
Like if the question was on how belonging influences identity, rather than defining belonging or anything I'd start with basically something that would resemble my thesis. Something along these lines:

'The pursuit of a sense of belonging conducive to the individual's perception of their identity is imperative if this sense is to be established firmly'

I wouldn't open with what belonging is or a general description outside of the realms of the question though, only because I never realised this was a common practice. Are we expected to have something like that?

Cool, that kind of seems like what I do. Is an opening sentence like the one I put there ^ okay, or do I need to elaborate more on what belonging actually is?

My mum tries to be like Amy Poehler in Mean Girls and just be really cool and connect with me on my level (...), so when she tries to get me to study she'll just come into my room (usually with food, I've been given blueberries, almonds and an entire avocado in the last hour alone) and really casually try to say 'hey, could be fun to get some books out or something'. It doesn't work out well, but it's nice (if a little weird) that she tries haha

:O Seems nice :)

It was a great thesis actually. Ctrl+C. l0l
Oh I thought you were seriously making fun of it, my bad haha

Yeah after reading SSH's thesis, I'm going to get like 5/15
Faisal is the 2014 Snake King. After saying you'll struggle to get 88 in English and doubting yourself in chem because of your rank you will come out of nowhere to get .95 haha

And don't worry about your belonging essays kiddies, they're only actually worth 13.3 marks once paper 1 is reduced to a mark out of 40.
