I know it was years ago but it's priceless. Some of you are probably relying on your majorworks so you can submit them to COFA, Sydney College of the Arts, NIDA or the Con, or whatever university so you can get in.
I did: Visual Arts, Music 2, Music Extension and English Extension 2
These all involve majorworks.
I received 91 for Visual Arts and E4 (46/50) for English Extension 2.
On the otherhand, Music was low/average scoring. Which was bad because I was relying on these majorworks to get me into a really competitive campus of USYD.
Oh I got a low Band 4 for Music 2. Yeah. And a low Band E3 for Extension Music for my majorworks. So it was all average. I literally felt like crying. And according to the 2004 average, it was below average, I forget which one. Uh huh. I thought I was pretty doomed to get into USYD. Doomed.
Those same low scoring majorworks got me into a scholarship to the USYD Sydney Conservatorium of Music and now I'm doing Honours subjects.
I hope it inspires all you HSC majorwork crazies. I did 6 majorworks all up in my HSC so I know your pain. If you are relying on any of these majorworks to get you into something like COFA or the Con etc as your portfolio examples, don't let a low score hurt you. Just do the best you can and believe in it the whole way through.
