How did the distance from PM and PM' be M and M'?

How how they rearranged the eqn PS'-2 = 6

and what do they mean by the last line P does not lie on hyprebola?

regarding youre 1st question: let P be (x1, y1)

therefore PM is x1 -(a/e) and PM' is x1 -(-a/e)

therefore PM - PM' = (x1 -(a/e)) - (x1 + a/e) = -2a/e. Thefore dist = 2a/e

distance MM' = (a/e --a/e) = 2a/e, also. Proven - PM-PM' = MM'

regarding your 2nd question: since you are told dist PS - PS' = 6, and PS = 2,

then PS' - PS = PS' -2 = 6.
