Despite being primarily a bodybuilder I wanna be as raw as I can. I'd use a belt, lifting shoes but not straps or knee wraps.
This is a p retarded way of looking at it, in my opinion

Will see if I can get a link for the chalk thing, uploading shit for work atm

Is it? I like the idea that what I do I do with my own physical strength, not with the help of bench shirts, wraps or multiply squat suits.

cheers for the link, take your time.

Here is how I see it, I'm not saying it's right

You can lift 150kg (it's an example, don't get your panties in a bunch bruv) but 155kg and your grip limits you.

You use straps for a while and get to 160kg strapped

You then go back and lift 155kg without straps, presto, progress!

Then if the plateau is over for the time being, you continue strapless. If not you can try other methods (accessory work etc) or continue straps for a while.

Using straps isn't a slight against the achievement it's a tool to be used when appropriate

sounds sexy.

and the barbell/dumbells we got at home have pretty shit grip. Its not enough to make me limit my weight, but i AM growing some epic callusses on my hands, and curling/barbell raises/etc do get painful for my hands sometimes.

Does your grip get stronger with straps?

I know a lot of people who end up relying on it and it just becomes a crutch 'yeah i could deadlift that. If my straps were here and I had the right shoes and um...'

Metolius Chalk Sock from Backcountry.com

This isn't an Australian link, but they seem pretty popular with rock climbers etc, so shouldn't be too hard to find.

If you let straps act as a crutch they will be one. If you still put the effort in it will only pick up the slack where you can't, the threshold for which will gradually increase.

Don't let grip limit your ability to train your pulls from the floor, so use straps, but then do some grip work to supplement.

Creatine is cheap as hell, ditch the multis and EFAs, make a dipping belt from rope, make straps from an old seatbelt, do pullups on a natural pulluping structure (there are many in existence - or make your own). the only thing there worth spending a lot of money on is a belt, and it'll last you literally a lifetime :)

Two towels over a rack (if you have one?) = pullups

Edit: Hell one towel if money is real tight :p

no rack brother, stands :(

I don't mind paying, just everytime I do I'm like 'that's 3 hours of washing grease off sizzling plates...'
