lol I didn't even bother to get my unicentre card today, not like im going to buy any book soon. The card is NOT cool, its so annoying. They should go back to last year where we didn't need the card to get the discounts.

i find it funny how people are crying that its first years that mean they have to line up to get unicentre cards....yet we all got them during enrolment, and its only the 2nd, 3rd, 4th + 5th year students that are lining up now....

Whats the deal with the unicentre card? On Tuesday I bought a drink and the chick scanned it... today I bought a drink and a different chick didn't scan it.
its only on the food at unibar (unfortunately, not on beer :( or other drinks) but some of them just scan it anyway.....cause they can i suppose?

also, with the rebate points, how do u redeem them? is it as simple as just saying that u wanna use them when u make a purchase and then they come off ur card?

the question is, how is it YOUR uni, any more than THEIRS?

I didn't have to line up for my unicentre card and I have passed the place at least a couple other times when there was no line. As long as you pick the right time you won't have to line up.

Is it just me or have they jacked up the price of food/drinks again over the summer? (I mean when you have the measly member discount of 10-20c or whatever).

I miss summer session now, you could have erected a 2 bed tent in the Unibar and still not be in anyone's way, now you have to hunt for somewhere to sit.

And I agree with previous comments, what's with the pack-mentality of the first years? You either see a large herd of them, or none at all. Can't they force them to buy their books in O-week or something? (I tried buying mine then, but only 1 book out of 6 that I needed were actually in).

When did I ever say that it was mine more than theirs?

This is a UOW thread frigid, not really relevant to you.

If you are somewhere longer than someone else then it is yours more than it is theirs.

Yeah, the parking prices stem from last year i guess. All the red car parks are more expensive, cos the permits were double the cost of the yellow parking, which was only the western car park.

Meh, first years are always good for a perve, cos they dress to impress the first few weeks....hahahaha :)
gawd your not wrong! so many hotties with damn good fashion sense tottling around campus. What the hell? most girls my age dont know how to dress properly and think a good outfit is a miniskirt and a tanktop but damn! just for going to uni alot of em are sure dressing up

its uni not a night club, i wear jeans and some sort of tshirt i picked off the ground today

poloktim: haha yeh, i overheard some saying how cool the "unicentre card" was and was so tempted to tell them about the good ole days when we just got the discount and didn't need a card that we have to lineup for 10 mins to get...but didn't wanna spoil their fun.
I remember when the same lunch that costed me $6.90 today with a membership card costed me $5. And these first year kids are revelling in how good the place is. Unibar prices are now just ordinary pub prices and it makes my pants sad.

And I love first years, because they line up at the bar in 2 lines and I can walk straight past them to order :D

As for parking, I just use multi-storey now because 1st years are tightwads who will use western or permits.

Adressed to the person who began this thread.

"I hate first years!" Ah well you have to hate something, or as in this case, someone, many someone's. But do you really hate them? Or do you hate the inconveniences they place upon you? This expression of annoyance will amount to nothing, let us consider what you have complained about...

"what annoys me most is that at the beginning of each year, the new first years still hang on to their high school mentality.....the stick in packs"

Well considering the fact that they have to listen to complaints like this from a matured (?) (I do not know how long you have been there for) student at UOW, i do not blame them for sticking in groups with their friends. Would you not stick with your friends in a new place? With people who are experiencing the same thing you are?

You complained about the parking issue

"Oh, and the whole carpark thing. I only ever have trouble finding a parking spot at the beginning of the year, and it seems its because every single first year drives in their first couple of weeks."

I personally do not drive in, I walk, and if you do the math, The University of Wollongong does not have the parking space to accomodate every single student. But of course you have been at the University for a longer period, so according to some this would give you certain privileges....Time it seems...gives you these rights? But it seems the University does not believe time gives privileges (otherwise i believe they would of granted you some sort of entitlement to parking ), Do, lets say 3rd years get extra privileges? ( Please inform me if they do) Or is it simply a notion of "I have been here long enough so therefore I must get something for it" (Please excuse this if you arent asking for Privileges but are merely stating that you hate "First years")

You complained about "first years" sticking to a "high school mentality", but aren't you also? Annoyed with people who are most likely younger than you? Who are new? Isn't this the "high school mentality" of a person who is lets say..in year 12...and complains about the fact that a Year 10 student took their seat. That the canteen line is full of Year 7 students.

I do not understand your anger at an entire group of people....they are people...they will get excited...they will socialise...they will group together...they will drive cars...they will park...they will talk incessently about the fact that they have cards with their photo on it...they are people.

But you know what the funny thing is....They will probably have the same stance you have now in a few years time when they too will complain about the fact that "first years" are annoying...i will not be suprised to see a similar post in a few years time or next year for that matter. A continuous loop.

Ultimately I guess you have the right to complain, as do I, and I also have the right to question Why you hate them lol And also you have the right to question my view. It will be interesting to see in a few years time where my position will be on the topic of "I hate first years!". I won't be suprised if it does change, but for now this is my stance on the topic. I am not really against your hatred but merely questioning your reasoning behind it.

By the way, I am a first year, and funnily enough i don't hate you.

Another day then.

Haha thanks for the essay.

This wasn't a letter to UOW asking them to eliminate the first year cohort, it is my rant cos I like when uni is peaceful and easy to get the biz done and at the moment the new first years are upsetting that balance, like they do every year.

Oh, and it has nothing to do with age, I don't like graduate students either.

Funny enough, you're an arsehole! :)
I have the perfect band for you to listen to:

Maybe after that, you'll realise that this forum is mainly just people having a laugh at each other's expense. If you still don't realise it, uni/life isn't for you. :)

Fucking first year fucks.

Carparks, unishop, unibar.......they fucken take them all over.

Grrrr
What annoys me the most is their lining up at the unibar. No, dipshits, it isn't a fucking canteen. Don't give me dirty looks when I stroll past your cute little line and get served before 50 of you.

You guys have some serious issues. I don't think it's right to group students by their year. More, by their faculty. *casts aside all boring non-CA students*

Lots of stupid first year-esque crap
Your writing style makes you come across as a long-winded, pretentious bitch, who is trying to impress the people here, or possibly even belittle/humble (hah) the thread starter. Not going to work dude, drop the act.

Edit: Also, stop ending your posts with 'another day then'. Far from making sense, it makes it sound like you live in badly written 1800s erotic fiction. Seriously.

My mates just discovered you could do that today. I've been doing it for a long time. It is a bar, after all.

But you silly person! Don't tell them the secrets! Let them line up in their perfect lines. I get my beer faster that way!

Originally the response was " "I hate first years!" Ah well you have to hate something" but i guess i got out of hand. In future ignore my over-analysis.
But then again we could look at it....lol Ok i'll shut-up, i assume that is something no one will disagree with? lol
