I've always wondered if an external magnetic field appleed to the outside of a motor would make any difference.

Yeah I was thinking about that. I have an old exercise bike and i thought I could turn it into a generator. But the fan uses an electromagnet so im not sure how it can generate current. You need electricity for the magnet to work, yet you can only produce electricity if the magnet works!
