I'm wanting to know (ideally from past hsc students) where i stand in terms of potential UAI.

Umm.. i goto Sydney High, and i do: English Adv, Eng Ext1, MX1, MX2, Eco, and Hist Ext, and i completed Modern history accelerated last year, with a mark of 85 (though i didn't take it seriously, regretably).

The only subject im getting Band 6 (or equivalent) is Maths Ext 1. We havent gotten our trials back, but i anticipate that for some subjects, i would have improved rank slightly, still in the mid-high band 5 range, but for 4unit maths, i am really shitting myself - at halfyealy, i was already pretty knackered at 91/124, but ive done pretty crappily in the 2 assessments since then (iuncluding the trials) and i surmise i'll probably get an even lower rank! possibly bottom 10 or 20.

what i want to know is, realistically, with maths ext and possibly one other subject a band 6 equivalent, the rest high/mid band 5's, and an absolutely guttered 4unit maths, what uai range am i looking at?

[end whinin]

Thanks in advance fellow stresser-outterers.

but isnt 4 unit maths deadly if you dont do well? like, it scales well if you do great, but the opposite is also true? how much can it drag me down?

it wont drag you down that much
even if you get in the high 70s and 80s in ext 2 maths, chances are that if you ace your other subjects, you're on your way to 90+

i'll take a guess of definitely 90+ even 95/96+. depending on the true meaning of 'mid to high band 5 range' (you don't know what band you'll really get compared to the rest of the state) with those subjects it could even be a lot higher.

You're at a selective school right? I suspect you won't do THAT badly then. And besides, if 4unit ends up being that bad, your other subjects will just count over that, so there'll be no real 'deadliness' about it. Getting a band 6 in 3unit(and having it count for 2 units, rather than one) will help you a fair bit.
