Well, although creative writing is not my strongest points, your concepts are cliche in a sense, although the Casino Royale inspiration seemed different in my opinion. Like all great writers, it takes months, if not years to solidify a concept and address it in their writing. I'm sure, you'll get an intriguing concept and theme from watching television or reading a magazine. In saying that, my english teacher believes that the most innovating and fascinating concepts come from the most remote and inconspicuous places.

I can tell you this now: your final work will probably end up completely different to your posted ideas. You'll pick one, research, journal, have a nice philosophical talk with a friend and get inspiration, research some more, write a bit more in your journal, see a TV show that uses an interesting concept, read an amazing book, want to change your writing style, and so on.

One of the focuses of ext2 is the process... I got so frustrated at the start because I had this AMAZING story idea (in my opinion anyway) but research showed that using it as it was was a shitty idea and it needed more. Starter ideas generally aren't enough as is. The markers want something deeper, I guess.

You can get people's opinions on your current ideas but they're going to change a lot as you do your ext2 assessments and stuff. They might seem cliche and simple now (as a bunch of people said) but that'll change if you have the research to back it up.

Extension 2 english is a concept based, self reflective topic.

My Concept was a criticism of the relativistic elements of post-modernist thought being applied to literature, and particularly any realism based literature. The medium was a post-apocalyptic Crime Science fiction story told through a post-modern multimedia presentation where there was a breakdown of structure, audience, protagonist, reality, factual reliability within the story itself of whether the events of the story were actually true... that's the basic description


Start with a basic concept of what you want to achieve. Think about what you learned in Ext 1 this year. You have to extend on what you learn in Advanced and Extension 1 in Year 12... how you extend is up to you.

So say your concept is you want to delve into the relationship between signifiers and the signified within a text. You want to deal with intertextual signifiers and how by breaking down those relationships a text can have multiple meanings.

You take this idea to your teacher. You get some suggestions for books/movies/essays for your research... and you watch/read ALL of them... constantly bouncing ideas off your teacher to see what they think. THEN you make a decision about your medium. Whether it's short story, Multimedia, Scriptwriting, an Essay... whatever. You choose the best medium to prove your concept.

NOW you start working out the details. For instance... a basic outline of what is going to happen in your story. An essay structure...

Then you draft, reflect, improve, rinse, repeat over and over again until you have a 'Major Work' that shows you have a critical understanding of your subject matter.
