iinet is situated in perth. pretty far from sydney.

if you are after a stable connection with unlimited downloads then i reckon internode is the way to go.

on the other hand if you want pure unlimited you can take the risk of joining a risky company connected with COMindico

i moved to iinet 3 weeks ago from telstra

i ahve to say, iinet does not suffer from any lack of speed whatsovever

for some reason i dl a lot faster on p2p after moving to iinet...

yeah DSL owns..i like iinet but they always seem to be going off and online..download limits are good and when it's on..always fast...u will severley compromise that with other unlimited ISPs

All home ADSL and most business ADSL in Australia goes over Telstra* between you and the big Telstra ADSL equipment in the city. This includes iiNet and Internode. That's the part that makes ADSL here so damn bloody expensive

Then once it escapes from the maze of Telstra it goes to your ISP. Most slowdowns etc. occur in the link from your ISP to their upstream ISP -- i.e. iiNet=>Asia Netcom, Netspace=>Worldcom, Internode=>Connect etc. (Some ISPs may have more than one upstream ISP.) Although Telstra throws in plenty of problems on its end too!


* A company called RequestDSL also have ADSL stuff but they charge even more than Telstra does (i.e. you can only afford it if you're a medium-sized business!)
