What do you guys think?

Personally, I'm shocked by the move. I personally think that women aren't raped because of their provocative clothing (many are in conservative clothing) and that this happily skips over the issue of the men as the instigators of rape.

In many ways, my opinion doesn't make cultural and religious considerations, which is why I've opened up this thread to some debate peoples :)

I don't think anything should be banned, especially not in favour of a biased opinion held by the government on what is "acceptable". People should be able to be who they want to be and wear what they want to wear without fear of criminal prosecution.

It is not the government's job to deny people this right, in favour of upholding their personal opinion and enforcing their values (religious, cultural or personal) upon the people. Any such government should be abolished.

Pornography, like all moving and photographed pictures, is witchcraft and should be forbidden.

Well tourists looking for that probably don't go to Indonesia in the first place.

Should defiantly not be banned though. Lets not forget Indonesia in a Muslim country, it won't be long until Australian women are arrested for kissing their husband in public over there or other such nonsense.

Islamic political parties in Indonesia are a lot more prevalent and active than Christian political parties in Australia though.

Was more a cheeky way of baiting those who insist Australia is a christian country than anything.

Australia is a (predominantly) Christian country though.

How can that be so when most Australians live lives so completely out of synch with Christian values? They work on the sabbath, they are intimate outside of marriage, they support gay marriage, they don't attend mass, they make virtually no effort to spread God's message, they covet material possessions, they lie, they judge their fellow man, they take the lords name in vain and that's off the top of my head. They might have some vague believe in a Jesus like deity but they certainly don't lead lives according to "christian values" in any academic sense of the term.

I agree with OP, a woman isn't raped because of their clothing, in fact most are wearing normal everyday clothes which one wouldn't call provocative at all. I don't think their move was rightly made.

Going off this, even though most people don't follow Christianity, our society is built on its principles. Our laws are based of Christianity, they start Parliament with the Lords Prayer etc.

I don't know what that means Lolsmith, although as Deswa1 correctly said, Australian society is built on fundamental Christian values.
