Today at 2:00pm, a physics lecture was held at a university (I forget which one). The lecture was broadcasted through a live large-scale webcam system in which schools could tune in. The schools also had their own webcam system where they could view, listen and talk back to the lecturer.

It was completely awesome, and I had no idea our school had such technology to participate. When we tuned in, we could view 4 other classrooms from different schools through their cameras as well as the lecturer. At the end of the lecture, each school asked the lecturer a relevant question, in which they were answered. Crazy!

Did anyone else hear of or participate in this?

Actually our schools are organising a thing like this for all the time with other schools in its association thing, like other Anglican schools.

For instance if you have a really good Maths teacher at one school they would do a lesson and broadcast it to all the other schools and vice versa. Pretty neat I think but in a way it is a bit detached.

I question the actual productivity of the lesson. Most of the enthusiasm is on the technology itself, I'm sure.

Oh hell yeah, the actual lecture was incredibly boring.
