For economics, are all the internal assessments tests? Or do u have to do projects and speeches etc.
Just curious cause we do a huge presentation thingy in yr 11 in groups - and there are many obvious disadvantages there

Group work in yr 11 is acceptable. Group work in yr 12 IS NOT.

We did a group research hand in, speech presentation, and tests in yr 11

There are disadavtanges but its just yr 11. You'll live.

It depends on your school. We have an assignment, a "research task/essay" and 2 tests. Then trials is obviously a test.

i have a group work in yr 12... i think its FUCKN mad!! lol... its easy... four people doing one assignment, then a lousy 3minute speech?

and also, i had a hand-in for the globalisation on a coutnry other than australia.. but i didnt have ANY in yr11.. and my teacher was saying the new syllabus requires u every teacher to set a task involving a rpesentation, but he doesnt wanna waste time,s o the actuall presenting has little to no emphasis...

yeah, its pretty easy if you're the lazy arse who does jack all and leaves the rest up to one person....

Edit: I might be grumbling excessively but I generally have awful expereinces with group work

i had an eco. powerpoint presentation as well. it was on markets. no restrictions as to how long we had to speak either. group of 3 + individual extended response worth 20%.

speeches and hand-in assignments aren't always the best, esp if u have to work in groups. a couple of the groups in my class were fighting coz the other guys didn't do any work. (ur perspective on this kinda depends on whether ur the worker or the lazy ass who makes the other guys do the work)

(prelim) well we had a group assessment task at the beginning of the term....i had to do most of the work coz most the ppl in my group didn't really care (we didn't get to pick our groups - hate group assessment tasks)....had the hal yearly...and now we're going to have an in class assessment about the budget - don't know why we didn't have it earlier

I have done so far two reports and two tests so far, both comprising essays. But Im sure that I will have to do an oral presentation at some point

In year 12 we only get tests, but in year 11 we had to do a presentation. I'm so glad we didn't have to do one this year because the girl I was working with made me do the whole thing, including her speech, and she ended up getting a better mark than me. I think most schools realise that in most group situations one or two people do most of the work, so they don't assess group work in year 12.
