Does anyone have any good notes on Malouf's "An Imaginary Journey" ?

sorry heart shaped box but i think the whole descriptive language in this novel AKA pointless waffle is so undescribeably ( is that even a word??)BORING!!! hahaha ill help u dont worry!!!

there isnt actually much out there on an imaginary life especially.. you have to go to your library and did up sum ugly dusty books and read like a million pages to get sumthing like a paragraphs worth of meaning! not easy!

theres the excel study guide but thats crap... too shallow, i think alot of the study guides are pointless, too preoccupied with wats the story saying, but your interested in a more detailed analysis constantly tied with context.... i think only you can help yourself there, so work with the little out there but enhance it your self

im in the middle of studing imaginary life... when u analyse the text you need to look at what ovid is referring to... such as his constant referral to time and what the landscape looks like... try and find the connections he makes in tomis... then having to leave again to become in touch with nature because he was been socialised in tomis just as he was in rome... look at the way malouf describes ovids experience, with his dreams and what he does with the child...

It started to recover itself in the last 50 pages though : P

Overall, An Imaginary Life got Malouf's point in relation to "In the wild", although a little long-winded.

When I first read 'An Imaginary Life', I was like ????? but we got to reread the novel in class...The class teacher finished reading the whole novel and up to the last lines she slowed down her voice and pace...it kinda touched all of the students in the class (weird) cos the ending seemed sad...so there was an eerie silence after the novel was completely read out.

Agreed. People make it out to be way worse than it actually is. It was easy to read, short and completely fit with the module. By focusing on just the major parts while studying, it was really easy to analyse.
