I charged it the recommended 4 hours. Does it take longer to charge by USB or something?

I don't know for sure but from experience when charging using the power-pack it charges a lot faster than via USB... Are you on a laptop or using a hub by any chance?

My new iPod video works great. I read around and did a full charge/discharge 3 times and it lasts 14 hours as advertised so I'm happy
