I just got an iPod mini and haven't been able to load songs onto it...
Ive got an iBook G4 and i loaded the newer version of iTunes and the iPod installer program from the CD that it came with but it won't respond. The ipod appears on the desktop but not as a 'source' in iTunes and when it's plugged into the computer it just shows "Do not disconnect" on the screen.
Does anyone know why this happens?? Do I need to get a firewire cable?

It should work fine through USB. Have you installed the software & formatted the Ipod with the latest software?

Because it's acting as a hard drive, if you unplug while stuff is transferring you can corrupt data. The same reason if you plug in a USB stick and yoink it out without disconnecting it, it gets upset. Just make sure to disconnect it in the system tray before you unplug it.
