I think we are going to be doin frankenstein next term.. that, or Bram Stoker's Dracula. so far weve done -
The Castle Of Otranto - Horace Walpole
Northanger Abbey - Jane Austen
and a bit of Poe..
Anyone else done those?

in first term we did a critical study of 'the great gatsby'
this term we're doing a critical study of 'snow falling of cedars' from a romance genre perspective
and next term we're concentrating on our individual projects we're we have to study a film/book and it's appropriation

We're not doing any of those! We're doing the Pygmalion texts, starting with the Myth, then the Bernard Shaw play, the My Fair Lady, then Pretty Woman. It's annoying though, cos we only have 4 lessons a fortnight, so we've been doing pretty Woman almost all this term!
In adv, we've done One Night the Moon, Buffy, The Riders, Harry Lavender, and Mestro. I think we're also doing Othello and Boweling for Columbine.

I thought there was a rule that HSC texts are banned from being taught until the commencing HSC year...

hhmm..
well, i heard about that rule too :)

ah well.
i think i'd leave it to the school to decide. if they want to break the rules, then let them. all it means is that the UAIs of 99+ really aren't an indication of academic ability.

but remember the cliche: "rules are made to be broken" :)

My first core text was 'The Riders' by Tim Winton, my second was 'Othello' by WS, and I dunno what my third is yet.
