To answer OP you should be paid a penalty rate.
Shift work rate+ penalty

Under the award McDonald's operates, you're given penalty rates if you work in the wee hours of the morning. I'm pretty sure it's from 1am-5am.

EDIT: the penalty rate is definitely not double pay

Usually you only get x1.5/x2 if you work overtime, with penalty rates tacked on as a bonus for working in a certain situation (over night, managing, dangerous environment)
