Hi guys,

So I'm moving from a private school to selective school next year. At my private school they gave us laptops for the year which we had to use, but my new school is BYOD.

I have a macbook at home, but I've heard a lot of people saying that the DOE installs programs on your computer that interfere with usage even when you are logged out and at home? If this is true then I will buy a seperate laptop for school use.

If anyone can clarify about the stuff DOE installs and whether it interferes at home I would be grateful.

sorry what does BYOD mean??
and wdym why would u buy a new one? just use ur Mac at home and the laptop they force you guys to have for school? don't bring ur Mac to school to avoid the interfering stuff.
Plus whats the issue if you use their laptop for school stuff it's not like ur gonna use it for anything other than assignments, school work, study etc. right

Sorry, I should have explained better.

BYOD means Bring Your Own Device.

This means at my new selective school I have to bring my own laptop from home to use. There will be no laptop provided to us by the school to use.

The only issue I have with this is I’ve heard the DOE installs programs that still record or interfere with your activity at home.

I am just seeking clarification from anyone that goes to a public/selective school on whether this is true or not.

(If this is true then I will buy a second laptop just for school use, I don’t want my activity at home to be monitored)
