It's not a dumb question!
In most cases, it is very unlikely that they will reuse a question from the HSC. However, if they do, they will not simply copy and paste it, but rather alter or adapt the question to a new scenario, new data, etc. The underlying concept can be reused, but not necessarily the question (and any accompanying diagrams) word for word.

for my accelerated subject last year we actually had a hsc question word for word so its definitely not impossible, if you can familiarise yourself with the hsc questions the trial questions will be very similar anyway
