is this allowed for the hsc units (1 Viewer)

hey guys

is a person in year 11 allowed to use their HSC mathematics mark if they accelerated if they go bad in 4 unit in year 12 and after aligning it the 2 unit mark is better off?

No, if you do 4 unit your 2 unit wont be counted in any case

If you do 4u, there's a pretty high probability that no matter the mark you get, considering the double weight of 3u now and the fact that 4u scales and aligns lake crazy, you'll very probably come better off than if you'd not done 4u, but simply 2u and 3u instead. And that's really a worst case scenario.

4u is very valuable course if you go on to do any form of mathematics at university.

This all assumes of course that you have at least an average amount of ability at 3u in year 11.

Also, if you do 4 unit, your 3 unit counts as 2 units and your extension 2 component also counts as 2 units. This differs from if you were doing 2/3 unit, where 3 unit counts as 1 unit on top of your 2 units of mathematics.

No, if you drop 4 unit before you do the HSC exam, then your 2 unit mark would still count, but now your extension 1 mark would then only count for 1 unit, as if you had never attempted the 4 unit course.
