Help! Is Americium-241 considered to be a an isotope used in industry?

Yeah it is, it's use in smoke detectors which is what we are doing in class.

Americian -241 is used in smoke detectors as it produces alpha radiation which ionises air and is detected by a device. When smoke comes near the smoke detector the alpha particles ionises the differently with the smoke and this is detected by the device and the alarm goes off.
