I'm thinking of doing japanese beginners and i want to know how hard would the HSC for it would be because that the scaling isn't the best and i don't want to stuff it up.

Wooo- do it!!

It really depends on what you already know of the language. I'm finding it a breeze but I could already write hiragana+katakana and get the gist of simple manga.

I'm doing it through OHS and their course seems quite good, but it depends on your situation (your school having a good/bad/no teacher etc.)

In terms of 'how hard', dude, I have no idea if it's harder than other beginner courses...hard to quantify that one.

If you do really well in it, scaling won't even affect you too much. If you're going to do it, make sure you're commited to it, just as much as you are to your other subjects. Especially if you do it via correspondence and need to self teach a lot of it to yourself.
