La musique francophone (3 Viewers)

Hello, wow I'm really "working" today. I've posted more posts on here than I have worked today! Anyway....

Which francophone music artists does everyone like? Like Carla Bruni (that ex-model) and Francis Cabrel, the oldies like Charles Aznavour and Edith Piaf and Johnny Hallyday etc.

My absolute FAAVOURITE singer, probably even ever, is a Qubecker called Lynda Lemay, whose song (part of) 'L'incomptence' you'd find gracing my signature. Her songs are really diverse, a lot make you laugh, others reflect on human society, some could make you cry - it comes as no surprise she won the Victoires de la Musique 'Female Artist of the Year' last year in France. Anyway, she's got some sites www.lyndalemay.com et www.lynda-lemay.net. The last one is better as it's updated regularly but the other one is her 'official' site. You can also watch and listen to her songs etc from her latest album "Les secrets des oiseaux". There's plenty other songs I like of hers, comme 'Le chameau', 'J'aime pas les femmes', 'J'veux pas d'chien', 'La cassette vido', 'Les souliers verts', 'Epoustouflante' - basically anything of hers! Hehe. As she's from Qubec her accent is pretty diff, but cool. I like listening to all the different French accents. Though to my French teacher it's like sometimes how we have a little contempt for when we hear an American accent, hehe.

Aussi j'aime des chansons de la grande Edith Piaf, ma prfre tant 'L'accordoniste'.

Alors, that's enough from me. Who does everyone else recommend?

J'aime bien les chansons qui sont douces.

en ce moment, ce que j'aime bien, c'est la chanson 'Si demain' (la version franais de Total Eclipse of My Heart), et aussi 'Quand j'ai peur de tout' (Too Lost in you)

J'adore le chanson "Les trois cloches"

c'est un chanson vieux (ou vieux chanson? Corrige-moi s'il-vous plait!).

Les trois cloches! Ooh, qu'elle est belle. La chanson est feminine, donc unE chanson, et the adjective 'old' in these cases goes before noun, la vieille chanson.

Tu as cout la version de Tina Arena quand elle tait en France? Elle a un accent qui nous rend en larmes - c'est terrible! Mais c'est un beau 'cover', mais a n'a rien voir avec la version originale bien sr. Did Edith Piaf do the original? Or someone like La Compagnie something orother? Memory dies after 10pm...

Si on aime des chansons douces on connat Carla Bruni (je m'en souviens pas si je l'ai dj mentionn.)? Elle chante acoustique et tout a, mais she sounds like she's always running out of air....

Chepas - ne suis pas bien a francais, et puis je ne peux pas ecouter un accent mauvaise.

I like "Je n'y crois plus" - The Whitlams

the accent is probably terrible but the song is beautiful. It's a french version of the song "I don't believe anymore" originally by the glass house (I *think*).

I have listened to Iam - that was fun

there is more, and when I bother to go upstairs (hopefully some time soon considering my bedroom is up there) I will check out the other lyrics and stuff I have.

Sick.. a lot of english-speaking bands seem to be singing songs in French now, from what I here on Triple J. Didn't know the Whitlams did a song of there's in French. Then there's that Placebo one (though half/half) "Protge-moi". Then at least 2 or 3 that I can't remember names of. Weird!

Le film dont tu parles c'est un film anglo, non? Je m'en souviens mais c'est pas clair - j'ai un cerveau gris....

Je suis en train de lire la biographie d'Edith Piaf - sa vie est trs intressante! Et en ce moment elle n'a que 18/19ans. Amazing... chanter dans la rue...

Oui c'est a. C'est un film avec Meg Ryan et Kelvin Klein. Je connais Edith Piaf aussi comme chanteuse mais je n'coute pas beaucoup de ses chansons.

Je suis en trein de lire ton site de tes voyages en Belgique (or ' la'?). Que je suis jaloux! Je passe un coup d'oeil dans ton journal et je peux dj imaginer que c'tait une exprience exceptionelle.

Tu y tais longtemps? Ou tu es toujours l ?

LOL, I used to like Meg Ryan, but now discovered that she acts in the same boring way. No offence to anyone who likes her Anywayz...

Merci pour visiter mon site J'spere que a t'a plu. ALors, mon voyage en Belgique tait trs bien pass, pourtant un peu court. J'y tais pour trois mois comme un tudiant libre au lycee. J'habitais Arlon- la ville avec le process Dutroux (des nouvelles Belges au sujet de 'pdophile'?) Je peux dire que c'tait un experience inoubliable J'aimerais beaucoup y revenir un jour mais c'est un rve

Et toi? tu prevois aller aux pays trangers aprs ton tude?

Bien sr qu'on a tous les rves d'aller l'tranger aprs Pas tout de suite pour moi alors. Mais je vais rendre visite au consul gnral pour essayer d'obtenir un passeport allemand (car maman tait allemand avant qu'elle est devenue australienne) pour que je puisse mieux visiter les pays d'Europe (alors, au moins les pays dy "Schengen"...) - mais d'ici en 5-6 ans je serai en Allemagne/ en France

ALORS - back to the actual subject of the thread, hehe. Heard a song on SBS radio Saturday night by this someone called Tri Yann 'La mer est sans fin', sort of a cover with the tune of that 'When I survey the Wondrous Cross' hymn. Very nice.

The trial of Dutroux, apparently it is at the moment the biggest news in Belgium. From what I have gathered, in 1996, he eventually got arrested for kidnapping and raping little girls. I think four of them died and two of them survived. and that he buried little girls in his backyard and starved them to death etc... His trial just started at the beginning of March and it's one of the most important current affairs in Belgium. It'll last for three months. that's all I know about it.

Also sugary, while you were there, was there this big difference between the Flemish Belgians and the Francphone Belgians? (I forget the actual names of the two groups?) Because all the little write-ups on Belgium around that I've read seem to be describing this big sort of tension between the two linguistic/(cultural?) groups??
