Anyone work at a bank?

How the hell do you get a job as even a teller? Its so fkn hard

It helps to have a degree, or to be working towards one. Im working at the National Australia Bank for this year before I go to Uni, and then Ill probably still work for them while im at Uni.


All the positions that are available with the NAB are advertised on their website.

i asked this teller and he was like he got it from a agency or something?
anyway he said he was doing law and most jobs at st. george were at the head office as a help desk or something else there and not many teller positions available at my branch. he was helpful but this info was like half a year ago but hope it helps. he was doing law in his last year.

but the jobs as tellers are all 4-5 day part time jobs
I need a job that works 2-3 days max

Yup I got my job with family connections, my mum and brother both work for the NAB.

I got it straight out of high school because it also suited them to put me on. Im deffered this year, so I could sorta work whenever, without having to study or anything.

I used to work only two days a week at the branch in town, but then it got increased to four days at another branch. I started as a Temp, which is like bottom bottom rung, but you get paid a lot - almost $25 a hour, but its no guaranteed work. I used to get rung up at 9.20 (The banks open at 9.30) and have to rush into work.

Now im happy with my four days, but there is heaps of competition for positions, especially entry level ones. Ill be looking to transfer my work to Melbourne which will be quite easy, because once you are trained its easy to find work, but there is a lot to know and learn in the first few months. Lots of time and money gets invested into putting new people one, I guess like any job, but its fairly crucial to get it right.

I've seen bank jobs advertised on job sites such as seek, careerone etc, and I've also seen them advertised in the saturday/sunday newspapers

they are advertised heaps but i think you need a big availability

the rarity is jobs that only work 2-3 days a week... which is wot i need =/
