You can't do it over the holidays due to Tafe teaching going on holidays from mid-december to mid-feburary

i think you might like to try community languages centre.

OTEN = Open Training and Education Network.

They are the Distance Education branch of TAFE...i'm doing my HSC through them. I wouldn't recommend them unless you are a extremely motivated person, and capable of independent learning.

Their website is www.oten.edu.au

the Centre for Continuing Education at USyd also does a lot of language courses similar to the TAFE ones. That is, they have both academic focus languages (like French for a degree) as well as conversation courses (like german for travel). Ask them for a brochure, or look through the Herald for their booklet thing.

If you're near the QVB, Abbeys Bookshop (York St - behind QVB) has a big pile of the course list books for freeeEEEeee

I don't really know, maybe 1/2 a year or a year if part time? (okay, please don't flame me if I am wrong)
Learning Chinese may be a good thing 'cause China is now recovering (economic wise) & is becoming more powerful economically. Besides, it is also useful if you decided to travel there, and trust me, there is alot to see (does that sound like I am trying to promote China or something?)

yes this would be the method but i think this would be a short course where it will take about half a year where they teach you the basics of the lagnuage such as the speaking, writing, reading.

I really want to learn French and take tests, etc to be accredited for it! I'd prob only want to do a beginner's course first though...

does anyone know anywhere in the Western Sydney Suburban region that runs such courses? Is anyone attending any courses over the holidays?
