I'm doing Advance Italian and Introductory Spanish for first year and dropping one of them for second year.

if you actually go to the eurobarometer thing they talk about which is here:

you will find that the three most common languages spoken in the EU are:
english (47%)
german (32%)
and then french (28%)

german is also the 10th most spoken language in the world, and french is 14th

German is the official language of the european union - so obviously has more relevance than french

I don't know if this is relevant here but i've heard that the only classical language to be used in everyday life is Classical Arabic in the Middle East where it is used in writing letters, news, all printed material even ads..

Now that's quite interesting.

I'm doing Beginners Italian. I've never learnt the language before so I hope I can pick it up relatively quickly!

Does anyone know how good the lecturers' are for Beginners Italian at Syd Uni?
