need some advice from pro-crammers :)

I'm behind in quite a few of my subjects, and while i dont need to cram, i need some advice on how to go about doing things a bit more quickly. (regardless of whether you do the same subjects as me or not)

- modern history: module - germany.
i've a vague idea of what goes on but without notes i feel a bit lost.
i've done little to no homework for this module, and only have notes on part.
how do i "catch up"???

- english!
i've only just realised how to go about the critical study - king lear.
my way normally consists of the long way:
spend a few hrs analysing feminist interp, few hrs analysing new historicist interpretation, few hrs on jacobean, then a few hrs on characters, an hr or two on techniques
= hell of a lot of hours.
alternative methods? more than welcome :)

- english ext.
crime fiction:
again, i'd spend hours analysing the conventions/values in each text (3 core texts + 2 related)
i need a shortcut.

especially if you're doing similar topics - how do you avoid the long way? please acquaint me with the shortcuts. i really need them

write points all over post-its or small cards and stick them everywhere , with formulas or quotes , and such.
works for me =)

for modern, i'm pretty sure cambridge has a studyguide for it, although i dont have it. but i have the cambridge for business, and whenever i'm behind in that (which is pretty much always) i read my cambrige book, because it summarises the topics in like 10 pages (the pages are small), and it works really well, because all the main points are in my head. u cud try that for modern!
