im arguing ppls right... ppls right to be able to mary whom ever they are in love with - even if happens to be someone of the same sex which should be totally irrelevant anyway.
and abortion is the same thing - people's choice

Perhaps pro abortinoist should be forced to raise the unwanted children who they campaign for. It might solve thew dispute. Give the children life and free up the mothers.

thats the thing with being pregnant. Ppl have this idea that we're not discriminated against any more - but we still are. Such issues as woman still having their jobs after having a child.

o.k so you think that you getting a job is more important that the environment?- an issue that effects us all?
anyway labour would be allocated to more efficient industries, as the only thing that will happen with kyoto in place is that businesses will pay more to put in place pollution reducing practices.

this argument is contradicting what you said about the unemployment rate.
You say you want "secure employment" after school, but Howard has achieved high eco. growth & decreased unemployment by casualising the labour market! Which means he has decreased the amount of full-time employment, & increased the amount of part-time & casual employment. Which means that it will be harder for us to all find "secure" full-time employment. Another way howard is helping his friends big bussiness to save money!!

Also to get out of debt you can reduce government spending or increase taxes! So this is why they are giving less money to public schools, hospitals, etc..
We pay one of the highest rates of tax in the world!!!!!!!!!!

Propagandi, I am also not in favour of many of the issues you just raised, however, I thought it made sense to talk about the issues that affect us directly, and for many of us at the moment this inclues getting a job. I am in no way attempting to change your views; I am merely stating my own. We could throw economic and political facts at each other all night and we'll never agree because we have already formed our own opinions.

But, as I said before, people should make sure they've got both sides of the argument before they form an opinion. Don't just listen to what you hear in the media or in school.

i read, from a variety of sources.and thats where i form my opinion from. i think about my children, who will actually have a purpose in the world and i want them to have everything. rather than me be able to get a high paying job so i can feel better about myself when i buy a bmw.

maybe you should heed your own advice because i swear that is john howards manifesto for the coming election.

with everybody being so selfish "things that directly affect US"...dont you realise this is what every generation says
thats got to do why things are so fucked up

i'm more talking about his contribution to society. sure he f'd the economy, but hey it recovered. he made possibly the largest positive contribution to australia as a culture, and you must admit - he had balls doing the stuf he did.

it makes me laugh that so many of you, have no ideawhat you are talking about in regards to howard/latham. im sure few of you know about either of the two's policies. and just to let you know...it is "cool" to hate john howard at the moment. have you ever taken the time to slow down and have a look at what he REALLY has 2 do?

you might have a point, but just so you know there are actualy countless reasons why anyone would hate john howard and lean towards mark latham, even though (concerning their policies) there's not much difference. i'm one of those who lean towards latham even though his ideals don't differ greatly from howards.
they're both acting like children at the moment.

ooh, ixnay on the ondescendation-cay, mmkay? it's not very becoming, and although i'm sure your ideas have some merit, it's incredibly presumptuous for someone who has been here for five minutes, and therefore has not had any real opportunity to speak to people here and find out what they believe. so how about instead of jumping in and presuming that 29 pages worth of thread is "howard sucks! baa! up with socialism!", you pull your head out of your ass and actually participate into debate first.

I think howard is a much better choice for PM, because Latham seems to contradict himself so often...his policies are so unclear, I think Howard is better able to lead the country.
When Latham was mayor of liverpool, he got them into crippling debt which they are still recovering from. This is not promising I dont think.

Er, liverpool looks alright to me. What exactly is this 'crippling debt' and how has it affected them to such a degree that they are 'still recovering'?

the only thing that crippled liverpool was the stupid oasis deal with the bulldogs club. but that didnt cripple liverpool, only the integrity of its council. Mark Latham hasn't had much to do with the council for 10 yrs. liverpool council right now is no reflection of Mark Latham and his so called "vision".

i really think when things get political. things dont really seem to happen - they make promises that dont necessarily come true. politicians - are normal people but just make little things big for elections and that. but I'm not for John Howard, besides from the cool issue. I personally prefer Mark Latham.

Make promises that don't happen. Don't take responsiblity for their stuff ups....kind of pisses you off don't it.

I wish the notion of ministerial responsibility was still adhered to...ah the good old days when I wasn't alive....

I'll choose Howard cause Latham is too much into social welfare and not involved enough with pursuing economic growth. :p
Please don't yell at me :)

Then it becomes a question of which is more important, social welfare or economic growth....

Social welfare ought to take precedence so that our society evolves and advances, and is therefore in a better position for a propserous economic growth to all.

Fix society, then start expanding the economy. Of course that doesn't mean pick Latham straight away..
