Law Revue (Week 5) (1 Viewer)

Just a reminder that Law Revue is coming up in week 5 (Tuesday till Friday night at 8:00PM). For those of you who don't know what a Revue is, it's an annual comedy based show with a bit of singing, dancing videos and also some voice overs. Thousands of people come watch the show and I've always found them to be very entertaining when I've gone.

So remember to keep one night free in week 5 to come see it (remember: Tuesday till Friday nights only).

This appeared in Column 8 on the August 6th edition of the Sydney Morning Herald.

Column 8 said:
We don't normally do this, but it gives us all a chance to be silly, so why not? "I'm directing this year's UNSW Law Revue, writes Joshua Brandon. Josh reckons he's got an ace show up his sleeve but wants help naming it. "To give you an idea, here are some of the titles that didn't end up getting used: Million Dollar Baby Bonus, Lawyer of Arabia, Finding Neverland Uncomfortable, and Law Miserables." They aren't bad, but Column 8 readers are brilliant and can do even better.

Column 8 is now four days in a row. That's unprecedented in the history of UNSW Revues. Here are Monday to Wednesday:

Column 8 said:
Mrs Phenella Phlagette, of Kaleen, ACT is back, and in good form, too. She has "a suggestion for the title of Mr Brandon's UNSW Law Revue" (Column 8, Saturday). She recommends It's the Tort That Counts, and we can't argue with that. (If Mrs Phlagette and Lady Agatha ever get together, well, we'll just have to hand this column over to the pair of 'em, adjourn to the library with a bottle of Scotch and a revolver, and do the decent thing.)

Title suggestions for the UNSW Law Revue (Column 8, Saturday) continue to arrive. Ann Babington wants to score extra points with CockyLawRevue, while Chris Lyons suggests Arraigned Man, Terminator 2: Judgement Day Adjournment, Million Dollar Bailee and Batman Rescinds. The whole subject reminded Andrew Robertson of a UNSW med revue in the late '70s, The Sound of Mucus.

Column 8 said:
Josh Brandon, of the University of NSW Law Revue, is overwhelmed by the response to his plea for a title, and will be giving away double passes to the opening night on the 23rd to our wittiest readers. In the meantime, Gary Jackson, of Mosman, offers the topical Staying Awake. Other readers have been distracted into the gooey world of medical revue. "When I worked at the Royal Women's Hospital in Melbourne in the 1980s they had a review called the Pelvic Floor Show. It was sold out all three nights," says Katrina Chisholm, of Mt Fairy, while Chris Holt recalls Debbie Does Dialysis at Sydney Uni. That's enough of that - law titles only, please.

This appeared in Spike on Thursday:

Parting shot

The title of this year's Law Revue at the University of NSW has been kept under wraps for weeks, but Spike can now reveal it - and understand why the students were worried about being sued. With shades of C.S. Lewis, the satirical effort will be called The Chronicles of Canberra: The Liar, the Bitch, and the Xenophobe.

Posters feature images of John Howard, Peter Costello and Amanda Vanstone posing like Peter, Edmund and Lucy in the fantasy tale of a similar name. The show will cost more than $15,000 to stage and, with proposed changes to the way student unions are funded, organisers think it might be the last time such a lavish song-and-dance performance can go ahead - hence the anti-government theme. The revue opens on August 23.

And in Column 8 on Friday:
Column 8 said:
The Spike column announced the name of the UNSW Law Revue yesterday, but we're still taking entries on this side of the page, as the director Josh Brandon has three double passes to the show to give away for the best suggestions. John Moir, of Mollymook, offers Crim, Tort and Terrific and Litigation, that's the Game of the Dame, while Peter Fyfe of Lavender Bay likes The Clause My Heart Skipped and Titanic 2: The Class Action. Winners will be announced next week.

I still think 'the indictables' (the incredibles) at sydney sounds better, sorry! ;)

But I love the names: 'Million Dollar Bailee and Batman Rescinds'

I'm going to stab you with a fork either way. :p

Just a note: ticket sales are going really well, so if you are thinking of coming to see the show I strongly recomend you get your tickets ASAP. If you turn up on the night you may not get a seat (if the theatre is sold out), and if you do get one it may not be a good one. It is set seating, so the earlier you buy your tickets the better your seats are (and this is really important if you are coming with friends).
