Ahh, I remember Mock Trial. Now that was a good use of my time in Year 11 :D
Do mooting this year if you can. It's 5x better than mock trial if you're interested in the law.

Wow you had 40-50 people try out! Our school's still struggling to get a team of six together...

Will be interesting.

Jachie, sad to hear that you couldn't get into Mock Trial, it was really a good and fun experience, from what I experienced personally, with the group of guys we had last year, who were funny as well as good :)

OMG. Are you serious?!
Yes unfortunatley :( Our school normally does really well in mock trial, but my grade is really bad at getting involved in extra-curriculars, so everyone was like "mock trial? thats sooo lame-only nerds would do that!" or "r u kidding me? volunteer for extra work? what a joke!" So i'm just hoping that we get a dedicated team together.

Damn! I really wanted to do mock trial but they don't offer it at my school! :(

Is there another way I can do it?

hahah
good old days..
did mocktrial in year 10 as witness[my love of melodramatics really showed there..]
lots of work in memorizing statements though!
but kiddos! please do remmber them off by heart... if u read the manual, thats what you're supposed to do!
i cant tell you the number of trials we went to where the opposing school just made up their own versions..
YOU MUST KNOW IT VERBATIM!
hahha...
year 11 is much better... i was 2nd barrister babeh!
and who says mocktrial is for losers..
the rest of my team were very attractive..[im excluding myself here! haha]
one boy's schools team was liek 'you're the mocktrial team :|"
haha.. that was amusing
was an interesting team..
haha...
we got into elimination rounds this year...
but lost to Kambala...
[and guess what! THE PRESIDING MAGISTRATES DAUGHTER WENT TO KAMBALA]
and on the day of the trial he was like 'My daughter goes to kambala, i hope the Defence has no objections to me presiding over the trial today'
and my team and i were there like :mad1: ... what could we do? they had come all the way from the bay to randwick...
hmmm!
and we only lost by 10 points! :(!
[we were on par for everything ie 1st barrister, 2nd barrister, witnesses. except for solicters notes]
AND OUR SOLICTER WAS AMAZING.
ahhh.
im sorry. jsut having a rant..
ahaha.
but yes, M.t is by far the best co-curricular activity i've ever participated in.
And yes, it does take a considerable amount of work..
ESP. CLOSING SUBMISSIOns.
!
goodluck !:)!

it's offered to every school,
its just a choice as to whether a teacher volunteers to coordinate it.
You should perhaps approach an Humanities teacher about coordinating it..
Too late for you i presume,
but for other years?

We got cut down by 3 points in our second elimination round, even though we destroyed them, our witness was badgering their 1st barrister, our opening and closing statements were better and we pretty much destroyed them all round. What a rip.

Same with my school- we're not even sure we're going to even have enough to enter a team this year, which is a pity because it was SO much fun and such a good experience last year.

Lol...seems fun to do. I'm in mock trial this year and plan to be second barrister. Bit of work to get done but the case seems interesting.

GAME ON baby!
