hey i have the same assessment.
What i commented on about Brook was:
-influenced by the theatre of the grotesque (late 1960's)
-tries to shock people into feeling (with all the deaths at the end)
-he has a political approach rather than a familial approach
-and he uses way too many film techniques.

For Eyre:
- minimalised
- symbolism in the colours and costume
- family focus
- alot more emotional than Brook.

any more points would be appreciated.

Yeah that's not helping, so just...actually state what it is you need to know about the play and the productions. You might want to try attaching a copy of the assessment criteria.

Do you have your own ideas about what you think the play is about? Summarise them. If you can, try to use the 'metalanguage' when referring to it e.g. feminist, familial, nihilist, liberal humanist etc

Then, you make a summary of what aspects the directors of the 2 films have focused on. I haven't seen the Brook production, but the main focus of the Eyre production is to show Lear as a familial play, and this is evident in the use of colour and setting e.g. the red of the walls represents blood-ties etc. This comes back to textual integrity. Then, do you agree or disagree with the composer's interpretation.

I'm not entirely sure what your assessment is asking for, so I'm just throwing some ideas out there for you. Make your summaries on Lear first, specifically in relation to what the play is about and how this is supported by the features of teh text (dramatic features as well as literary), and then relate it to the assessment task, and you should be alright.
