Hey guys, I'm having trouble distinguishing between statute and common law, are you able to clarify and list examples for both. And any anecdotes to remember these :)

Statute Law is created by federal & state parliaments. Covers the general stuff about fairness and equity of all employees. Refer to Fair Work Act 2009.

Common Law is created by courts & tribunals. Generally they are more specific, and describe the basic rights & obligations of employees and employers in employment relationships. Refer to WH&S Act.
