I would have mixed reactions if I was a Lehman banker in the APAC region. Nomura has long had a 'Japanese only' glass ceiling in the upper echelons of management.

Comes back to their 'family' style of management though. The same with a lot/most of the big Japanese companies, Toyota became what it is through this style.

It's not as if Lehman had any legs to stand on. It'd be a nic buy for the Japanese, just like Merrill was for BoA.

i spoke to some LEH guys in hk

pretty good outcome considering the situation. They are slightly worried about the job cuts in asia since theres a lot more overlap compared to ML/BOA.
And it will be tough since they lost most of their mandates.
