I must say that's the most pointless exercise when writing an essay.

In no way does it make your essay any more integrated than if you weren't to link them, for the whole point of an essay is to support your thesis (yes, only ONE thesis) with arguments, evidence and techniques and NOT to identify the relationship between texts.

Plus, what's even more stupid about linking texts is that most of us only do it very superificially, like 'Similarly, in Crossing the Red Sea, the persona undergoes various changes blah blah blah', just to make it sound good. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME.

Whatever you gronks may say along the lines of "OH, YOU MUST LINK YOUR TEXTS TO GET A GOOD MARK BECAUSE THE EXAMINER WILL LOOK FOR IT", well, you can go screw yourself.

But linking texts have to be there to show that ur texts are relevant to the thesis and the answer

You don't have to link at all
If you can, link, if you can't, then don't-simple
the question will say at least one other related text or one related text...

Winston, you're not exactly the definative word on english (and for that matter, neither am I), however I'd go with the general consensus and say integration is important, albeit not to such an extent it is in the Modules Essays.
