List of books to read after the HSC..? (1 Viewer)

So after the HSC i am gonna have loads of spare time. can anyone suggest some excellent books to read?
My favourite books are the harry potter series. I like fantasy but fantasy with real people if you get what i am saying. i also like mystery and things that are based on true stories.

im going to read all the harry potter books b/c ive only read the first 4, then watch all the movies

Fantasy though:
Someone recommended the trilogy "His Dark materials" by Philip Pullman

First book (to find after Nov.7) - Northern lights/The Golden Compass

Should be good, as well theres an "Outcast" trilogy I read 5 years ago. I read book 1, but couldn't find 2&3

So those 3 books are on the list to be done, after catching up on the sleeping, etc.

Hahaha. I didn't think it was that bad. I liked it, even having to go on about context and nature and all that.

Some of my all-time favourites:
High Fidelity
His Dark Materials! (definitely "real people" fantasy, the world is very close to real too, only slightly alternate universe)
The Catcher in the Rye
About a Boy
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time
A Series of Unfortunate Events (1-7 are the best. they got weirder after that imo)

Also "real people" fantasy:
Beyond the Deepwoods (kids series, but holds up well if you need an intro)

I really like Matthew Reilly's Ice Station and Contest. They're not fantasy but they're a fun read. And i also liked the Lemony Snicket series of unfortunate events. I started reading Wuthering Heights just before the exams but had to stop because i needed to re-read the english texts. Now i'm REALLY looking foward to starting it again...

I read Brave new world just out if interest, and i liked, except the bits that take place on the savage reserve.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman is my contribution, along with Neverwhere by the same.

i'm sure one could be useful for the HSC too, though i'm crap at deconstructing.... but don't let that put you off, they're both fantastic reads, espicially neverwhere, even though those two things don't generally go together, lol

hey i want a really good book for my first book to read for a long time besides stupid english books lol

my favourite books are the tommorrow series by john marsden does any one recommend me any books that are similar or they think i would like if i like these

i was thinking of reading mathew rilleys ice station but not sure if ill like it i havent read any of his books but ppl seem to like them so maybe or else ill just read the tomorrow series again

I enjoyed Ice Station, it's not the most intelligent book but it's fun. I've read it a bunch of times. It's like reading an action movie. If you like Ice Station, give Temple and Contest a read as well.

Umm well i could recommend a trillion books but it seems you enjoy action style novels so i would suggest anything by Dan Brown, 'Angels and Demons' is in my opinion better than the da vinci code...I too hear Mathew Reileys's Ice Station is great. I'm reading a book atm, which i shouldnt be considering I havent finished my hsc, but its called The Shadow of the Wind and i'm really enjoying it. Other than that, crime fiction is my favourite genre, and i sugest anything by Michael Connelly, Patricia Cornwall, Lee Child or James Patterson. If you are searching for a classic, you can go past to kill a mockingbird, great expectations, crime and punishments and anything written byj ohn steinbeck...cant wait til i can finally start reading without feeling guilty bout not studying

umm well i love reading jodi picult books.. bit dfferent to john marsden but still a VERY good read.. i recomend my sisters keeper.. i cant remember the author of this book .. but i loved it its called "the bridge to holy cross" its about hitler and a girl who survived the war.. loved it hehe mmm good luck with those long lazy days of reading
