I think it's time I bought another digital camera--the family one is more than 5 years old I think. I just want something that won't blur when you move right after taking the shot (so quick recovery time or whatever it is), takes decent quality photos, will last a while, and my budget is probably about $200. Other tips would be much appreciated too. Now I know I've just missed the end of financial year sales, but this is just so that I can keep an eye out until I can see a good deal coming in. Thanks!

Canon IXUS. I've had two Canons and both have been excellent.

Buying cameras is really simple. Just get a canon.

The features, optical zoom size and peripheral crap are meaningless if the camera can't focus at all and takes blurry shots 70% of the time. Canon's are brilliant on all these fronts.

One thing though, some of the canons are like a second slower then others, I don't know why. It doesn't even follow a rational order (IXUS 75 is slower than 85 but quicker than 95...and shit) so I'd look up the specific model on cnet.com.au because they test that. But yeh, photos are good, even on high iso there isn't THAT much noise.

Agreed. I have the IXUS 960 IS and it takes brilliant pictures and quality videos.
