Hey guys, I’m planning to take Extension 2 Maths next year and I’m trying to get some honest advice from people who’ve already done it. What resources or textbooks did you actually find useful.
I’m also wondering if tutoring is essential for Ext 2 or if it’s possible to survive just through self-study. If you did get a tutor, which tutoring places or centres would you actually recommend?
Keen to hear what worked for you guys - Thanks

We learn by reading, watching and listening. They all complement each other. Reading any textbook is better than not reading.
I recommend that :
1. First look at the syllabus from NESA website. At every step be sure that you cover everything mentioned in this document.
2. Study textbook (Cambridge, Maths in focus, etc). Then look at the related questions in the past papers. If you have difficulty in solving or understanding then look for other resources (Other textbooks from VCE, Youtube videos, uni textbooks, friends, teacher).
3. You can do without a tutor. But a good tutor can guide you and save a lot of time. I am not a fan of class tutoring. I recommend a good private tutor 1-to-1. You should try different tutors and find someone suitable for your style and needs.
Good luck...

Cambridge and new senior are the ones I used, but I found doing questions and a ton of past papers the best method of study, I didn’t really use the textbook
YouTube’s pretty good as well can’t remember any specific channels apart from khan academy maybe and organic chem tutor but obv as coolcat said they aren’t the most watchable, haven’t checked out mcgrathmaths before.
you can defo do great without a tutor, I found it fine even with an absent teacher but tbf I had only maths to worry about so much more time to allocate

i have a feeling the people who glaze the cambridge textbook have a superiority complex, and only glaze the cambridge textbook because they want others to think that they are so smart for using such a convoluted and badly written textbook. the questions aren't even that notable, you can easily find questions of those style in hsc and trial papers. and the ones you can't find in hsc papers can't be found for a reason, they aren't suitable as exam questions, especially the so called "enrichment" section.
