Hey all, so I'm having some difficulty deciding what degree to do and where to do it. These are the main two options - note that I would major in Anthropology in both of the Arts components.

Macquarie - B Arts/B Laws
Received early entry already for this degree.
Pros:
  • Way closer to home (20 minute bus ride)
  • Would not have to pay for accommodation/living expenses
  • Able to keep my part-time job
  • Social life + keeping in contact with friends from high school
  • Only uni to have the Arts minor which I want to study - Creative Industries Management
Cons:
  • I don't know if I actually want to study a Law degree, and am afraid that if I change my mind, I will not be able to transfer into ANU later on
  • Would maybe feel too similar to high school? Not as much independence
  • I probably don't want to become a practising lawyer in the future
  • No space to study Philosophy within this degree, which is something I really wanted to pursue
Australian National Uni - B Arts/B Politics, Philosophy & Economics
The ATAR for this course is 96, I received 92 but will likely be able to get in with bonus points.
Pros:
  • Living independently would be a fun new experience and give me some valuable life skills
  • Incorporates Philosophy
  • 4 years versus 5 years at MQ
  • ANU is a more respected uni (at least from what I've heard?)
  • I feel like the PPE degree is probably closer to what I would like to do in the future than Law
Cons:
  • Would be sacrificing a lot from Sydney - social life, my job, my pets etc.
  • Way more expensive to be living independently
  • I don't really like the environment/vibe of Canberra as much as Sydney
  • No Creative Industries minor
I am very very stuck so any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Mq is more closer to the city compared to ANU in terms of location.
It depends if you like the course or not from the Uni itself.
If you are more into social life> then if you at ANU you have to adapt finding new friends which might be a struggle but for that Mq could be easier in terms of a social life.
ANU means you have to pay extra stuff like acco and everything yourself.
