I adore A Softer World :)

I decided to do a crime story because of our studies in ext 1, but more specifically, T.S. Eliot's poetry:

This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.

The Hollow Men

and...

[FONT=&quot]Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future,
And time future contained in time past.
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable.

Burnt Norton

A conversation between my Ext1 teacher and a fellow student about a particular Wire In The Blood episode also kind of sparked my initial concept :)

As far as style and atmoshere goes, Buffy The Vampire Slayer (and Angel), Se7en, The Matrix and Fight Club were all pretty influential :p

Oooooh, Firefly/Serenity. I miss Firefly so so much. *hacks those who cancelled it to death*

Ummm, influences... 28 Weeks Later, I Am Legend and 30 Days of Night, for movies. Haven't actually seen 30 Days of Night, but the idea of eternal night = awesomeness. 28 Weeks Later = major inspiration. I saw that movie and that night wrote my first draft. All of it. Lyk whoa.

-Artworks. A ridiculous amount of them.. (My MW is going to deal with art and postmodern artistic endeavour)
-People. I see people on the street and imagine their stories, where they're going and what they're like, it's massively inspirational when you're stuck in a rutt. Also people like Cindy Sherman, Gilbert&George, Jean Claude and Christo, Yves Klein, Barbara Kruger, William Blake, Geurilla Girls, Claes Oldenburg, T.S Elliot..
-Feminism (which I'm venting through one of my characters)
-Cafes + daydreaming
-Movies like Juno, Garden State, Amelie...
-Stand up comedians, when you're taking your writing too seriously.
-Song lyrics. Look up some Shins lyrics. James Mercer is amazing.
-Art manifestos! If you're feeling a lack of passion in your words, you can draw endless inspiration from these.
-Writers Showcase Books.. I know, lame.. but a lot of the stories deal with postmodernism, which I need some help in executing for mine.

You don't have to draw from any of these, but it works for me. :)

Mine's pretty personal-- my uncle's death is the main source of inspiration, and some of my friends' experiences.
Cosi (Who'd'a thought an Advanced text would help me so much?)
Trance and happy hard music... especially DJ Scot Project and BeXta... raving ftw <3
