It looks really rabbit-y. But if you look closer, you can tell its a dog.

What culture is this girl from? There were a few girls 2 yrs or so ahead of me who got married in yr 12, I think one was pregnant and one was arranged though and girls that I went to primary school are getting hitched as well... its really strange when I think about it.

Yeah, must of the girls at my school are muslim, & everyday you hear about another girl getting engaged!!!!

No, it was not arranged, but I think the girls are encouraged to find a man by their parents

Re: K (1964) ruled that pregnancy of a 15 year old female was not grounds to consent to the marriage. In 1968, however, Re: W ruled that pregnancy of a minor was enough to warrant consent for marriage.
They're very old cases, Ziff. Morals were much different then.

At any rate, I was particularly bored one day and I read the marriage act 1961 (Cth). You cannot marry before age 18 unless 'exceptional circumstance' is present.
  • Applicant is 16-18 yrs, significant other is of marriageable age (>18 yrs)
  • Parents do not need to consent to the marriage of a person between 16 and 18
  • Judge/Magistrate can give 'parental consent'
  • The permission to wed is valid for 3 months only
  • The witnesses must be over 18

Ex Parte Willis (1997) gave a pregnant 17 yr old girl permission to wed, but only after an appeal. The appelate judge decided that 'exceptional circumstances' included pregnancy; precedent has been formed.

sweet, so step-siblings are in!!

So you can actually marry into your own family then!
Dude, No you cant.
Section 23 makes a list of people you can and cant marry.

Marriage Act 1961 (Cth) said:
Marriages of parties within a prohibited relationship are marriages:
(a) between a person and an ancestor or descendant of the person; or
(b) between a brother and a sister (whether of the whole blood or the half blood).
It even prohibits the marriage of adopted siblings.

Marriage Act 1961 (Cth) said:
(c) Any relationship specified in subsection (2) includes a relationship traced through, or to, a person who is or was an adopted child, and, for that purpose, the relationship between an adopted child and the adoptive parent, or each of the adoptive parents, of the child, shall be deemed to be or to have been the natural relationship of child and parent.).
