I got J.D. Steele for my tutorial for Discrete Maths. He's a short bald guy. He doesn't look scary or strict to that matter!

What do you want to know? If you have any MATH1081 questions, post them in the "Apreciation of Maths" sub form in the MATH4U forum ...

Other questions can be posted here ...

The problem I had with Steele lecturing is that he spoke really softly in a monotone. Was good for going to sleep to though ;)

Today was horrible, going from comp 1711 to discrete :( My friend and I couldn't concentrate at all because we were still really hyped up.
And don't even get me started on his use of partial fractions! >_< Us non-4-Unit people never had a chance

Who's this directed at?

*egotistically McLake assumes himself*

*digs up marks*

9/10
7/10
4/10
4/10
9/10

Don't ask me what happened there in the middle, I'd rather not think about it ...

Hey, those 9s looks good enough.. (what happened there in the middle?)

BTW, just a question, at one of these sets questions, when you're trying to simplify some statements like (A^c U B)^c, do you have to provide the laws in the steps? (e.g universal laws, idempotent laws etc...)

Yes you should.

I remember all my marks took a big dip in the middle too...

As sunny said, yes you do need to note laws (think Circle Geo in maths)

*Checks tests*

Test 3 was proofs, test 4 was combintorics (probibility).

I never liked prob in high school, never got the hang of it, so that explains test 4. As for test 3, well my lack of grasp of logic dosn't bode well for COMP2411 or COMP2110 ;(

pity about your dips.. does many others experience this? so would it be "normal" to get 4 and 5s if everyone gets it too? :p

(my hunt for brownie points have stunned my mathematical capabilities)

I got an average of about 5 or 6 on discrete tests I think? Getting marks is sometimes a "wow!" :)
